A speciality of the house made from 100% Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards in the Cête des Blancs. A sophisticated and elegant blanc de blancs which is a perfect foil for fresh fish or as an apéritif.

Sir Winston Churchill was Pol Roger's most illustrious devotee and customer. The composition of the blend is a closely guarded family secret but from tasting it is likely that the champagne features about 70-80% Pinot Noir with the remainder made up from Chardonnay. The grapes are all from Grand Cru vineyards which were under vine during Churchill's lifetime and it is only ever made in the very best vintages. It is made in a style which Churchill himself favoured: robust, mature and long-lived.

The nose opens with hints of beeswax and apricot which are repeated on the palate and reinforced with notes of acacia honey. Despite its sweetness it is remarkably refreshing and a sporting acidity leaves the palate cleansed. This would be the perfect toast to serve with wedding cake but equally it complements tarts and crumbles.

Charmingly fresh, crystalline and sharp, with a subtly vegetal nose complemented by hints of white pepper and gardenia. A tactile palate reminiscent of anis and dried ginger is balanced by light pear and mango skin characters, and the finish is superbly long and curiously serene.

A studied contemplation of the nose reveals subtle citrus, apricot, sweet almond, tobacco and delicate herbs. Pure, smooth and clean cut in the mouth, with a finely structured and lively finish.

Powerful aromas of dried fruit and a nice floral touch on the nose, together with brioche and toast undertones. In the mouth it is firm and structured, with masses of substance. A great accompaniment to lobster or scallops, and perhaps in a couple or years to poultry or veal dishes.
