Casanova di Neri
The winery is located in Montalcino (Siena) in Tuscany. It was founded by Giacomo Neri in 1971 through the purchase of an extensive estate. The vineyards cover 36 hectares, divided between the four vineyards of Le Cetine (Sant'Angelo in Colle), Pietradonice (Castelnuovo dell'Abate), and Cerretalto and Fiesole, near the Fiesole estate opposite Montalcino. Fiesole is the historic vineyard, where the headquarters and winery are also located. The wines are individually vinified in wood each year. The estate produces Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and Sant'Antimo (Pietradonice from Cabernet Sauvignon). Various grappas and olive oil from 15 hectares of olive trees are also produced.
Brunello di Montalcino 2017
An impressive Brunello from this top estate. It was a very hot year, but Giacomo Neri has succeeded in producing unexpected grace and a floral profile in this very fine, deeply charged red. Needs time to dazzle at its best.
